What does the internet know about you?
Internet services can infer patterns from what you search, watch, click, save, skip, and return to. Those signals are often used to predict what will keep your attention. Seeing the pattern yourself is the first step toward having more choice over it.
What is a behavioral profile?
It is not a complete portrait of a person. It is a set of predictions: interests, likely preferences, routines, and groups someone may place you in. Predictions can be wrong, incomplete, or old—especially when they are based on only one platform.
Useful questions to ask
- Which sources are contributing data?
- What does each source say it collects and why?
- Can you view, export, correct, or delete it?
- Which inferences are facts, and which are guesses?
- Who can access the result?
